Five days after the protest action by the families of the detainees, Iranian authorities released Shapour Ehsani, Asadolah Pour Farhad, Jeveh Javaheri and Mohammad Asharafi (photos: left to right) today. They were arrested on May Day for taking part in a rally in Tehran.
Three people were further taken into custody on 2 June after protesting in front of the revolutionary court to demand the release of these detainees. They were family members of Shapour Ehsani and Mohammad Asharafi and were all freed today.
Despite this development, more than a dozen people are still held in Evin Prison. Jeveh Javaheri was the last remaining female prisoner.
